Downtown Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn is the equivalent to Midtown and Lower Manhattan. The area has established itself as Brooklyn’s business and technology district, housing plenty of office and residential buildings. Downtown Brooklyn is also the home of such notable cultural and educational institutions as Brooklyn Borough Hall, St. Francis College, St. Joseph’s College, Brooklyn Law School, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the New York Transit Museum. Despite the heavy emphasis on business, the area also supports green initiatives; thrice a week residents can purchase fresh produce from the Borough Hall Greenmarket, supporting local farmers. Since 2004’s rezoning efforts, the area’s residential area has been revitalized. Much like the Financial District in Manhattan, developers are luring new residents with new condo developments, apartment complexes and renovated townhouses, thus marketing the area as both living and working community.
